The Company:

This reputable FMCG brand are growing fast. With unprecedented growth, they are now seeking a talented Cost Accountant to take ownership of the function and run with it in this newly created role.

The Role:

The Cost Accountant primarily develops and maintains activity based costing standards for product costs. Liaising regularly with the operations team and finance team, the Cost Accountant will develop & maintain activity based costing and reporting against standards. The incumbent will also perform management reporting of variances to activity based costing standards, and work with key departmental heads in the preparation of capital commitment requests.

You will be responsible for:

  • Development of appropriate activity based costing, processes within the production operations
  • Classification of costs between major product categories such as labour, overheads, capital investment and bench-marking to best practices
  • Establish inventory valuations for management reporting
  • Develop and prepare management variance reports for all production operations
  • Participate in the financial and management reporting processes
  • Work with department heads to prepare capital expenditure requests
  • Prepare costings for new technological advancements in production processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal safety policies and procedures and participate in department related incident investigation and risk management activities

Your profile:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting essential with preference of CPA accreditation (but not essential)
  • Industry: Previous experience in similar role within manufacturing environment utilising activity based costing standards and intimate knowledge of activity based costing methodologies. Understanding of long lead time manufacturing preferred
  • Systems: Proficient with using Microsoft Excel (intermediate level) and with fully integrated enterprise systems (SAP or equivalent MRP/ERP systems) preferred
  • High regard for quality and standard of work with high levels of accuracy in output of work performed
  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills and ability to work well with all levels of business and stakeholders. Ability to succinctly communicate financial information to stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver quality standard of work with limited supervision or guidance. Can work effectively in a generally autonomous role
  • Works effectively with cross-functional teams ensuring regular communication and collaboration on key initiatives, data recording, systems implementation and other
