Senior Financial Accountant

Globally expanding business

Contract role

The role is to support the finance team in all aspects of financial, management accounting statutory reporting and group taxation. Working closely with Senior Accountants and other stakeholders, this role is critical in the month-end, Half year and Year end processes, including preparation of the P&L, balance sheets, financial reports, along with general ledger and account reconciliations. You will also be involved in ad hoc project including support the implementation of a new ERP and associated tools.

Responsibilities will include:

Financial Control

  • Maintain and develop the established financial control framework
  • Manage the completion of the month-end cycle within clearly defined timelines
  • In conjunction with business stakeholders, completing comprehensive analytical reviews across all key P&L/balance sheet items and proactively manage resolution of queries
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly with appropriate resolution of all reconciling items
  • Establish and maintain audit trails for all revenue/expense streams and balance sheet accounts
  • Proactively determine opportunities to streamline and/or automate processes
  • Manage the integration of core billing systems and implementation of new Billing systems into the general ledger
  • Integrate new practices and business relationships into the control framework
  • Manage the ongoing relationship with the External Auditors

Decision Support

  • Supporting the Finance Practice Partner to deliver high-quality management reporting and analysis to support initiatives
  • Delivering comprehensive monthly management reporting to stakeholders with key focus on insight, timeliness and accuracy
  • Continually developing strategies to improve the effectiveness of management accounting processes
  • Coordinating the annual budgeting & monthly forecasting processes

Team

  • Coaching and mentoring 2 junior accountants

Ad-hoc/Project work

  • Effectively project manage work streams supporting financial control improvements and automation opportunities

To be successful for this role you must have the following:

  • CA qualified with relevant accounting degree
  • Experience in a chartered big 4/ medium sized environment in auditing with exposure in to financial statement preparation and tax.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional attitude, committed and delivery oriented person in a very fast paced environment
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience gained in the financial services/insurance industry highly desirable
