Our client provides industry-leading outsourced accounting, tax and finance solutions for businesses. Their services include document management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue calculation and payroll through to effective taxation structuring, management reporting, budgeting and financial modelling, financial statement preparation and audit management.

They are looking for a commercially minded, Assistant Accountant- a high performer who enjoys the commercial aspects of accounting and is looking for a breadth of experience across a variety of industries and clients. Whilst both the team structure and the position are commercial in nature, they offer a unique professional chartered environment, with access to a team of accountants at all levels, technical support between divisions and external training courses offered for all professional staff.

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be involved in the day to day operations of a finance department, ensuring the quality and integrity of the data and reporting for a variety of organisations.

Supporting the finance managers and directors you will be part of a team which will be involved in:

  • Accounting function for a portfolio of outsourcing clients;
  • Management of day-to-day operational tasks (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and ad-hoc client request)
  • Management of client direct and indirect tax/compliance requirements in Australia including FBT, GST, payroll tax and PAYG Withholding;
  • Working closely with the Finance Managers and clients to understand their business intimately (including operations and strategy);
  • Contributing to policies, procedures and related controls to ensure efficiency and continuing improvement; and
  • Working with the Technical Teams to co-ordinate statutory half year and year end audits

Most important attributes required for the position:

  • This role will attract CA/CPA qualified or currently studying candidates who have had at least 1 year experience in a similar role within a commercial environment and have a degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
  • We are looking for a team player, hardworking, self-motivated and has excellent time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are a must in order to create positive business relationships both internally and externally
