The Company:

This US based FinTech is at the forefront of the disruptive industry. Having partnered with blue chip organisations, they deliver entrepreneurial solutions to customers across the globe. Founded in 2009, they have expanded their operations and have offices in the US, Australia, Europe, South America and the UAE. Growing organically 40% year on year, they are a highly successful and profitable firm and are looking for a Financial Controller to join their Australian business and run the local finance function. Currently a $15million turnover business, they are on track to grow to $50million within the next 3 years and have ambitious growth plans beyond. This is an exciting time to be joining this start-up and making a difference in a successful enterprise.

The role:

As the Financial Controller you will have ownership of the finance function, imbedding new processes and getting involved with strategic decision making. As the company grows your role will progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Insourcing the finance function from the external accountants who currently do the majority of the accounting work
  • Month end and year end processes
  • Preparing and reviewing the financial results against the budget and forecast
  • Variance analysis
  • External audit processes which will include resolving and accounting issues
  • Tax compliance including GST, FBT, PAYG and payroll tax returns
  • Setting up processes and procedures
  • Managing the Accounts Assistant (who looks after AP, AR and some reconciliations)

Your profile:

As the successful Financial Controller, you will be a CA or CPA qualified Accountant who commenced your career in Audit within a Big4 or similarly reputable firm prior to your transition into a commercial organisation. You will ideally have experience either auditing or working within a Financial Services organisation, and had exposure to aggressive growth or change management.

This role is best suited to a highly ambitious individual, someone who enjoys challenging the status-quo and thinking outside the square, who is always looking to innovate. You must be willing to travel, be able to leverage technology and have prior experience managing or mentoring staff.
