Reporting to the GM for Product and Sales you will be a highly valued and critical member of the business. This company is dynamic and nimble in nature, and it looks for people who are driven, who take the initiative and who have an entrepreneurial flare. This role has a blend of account management and new business, but does place the greater emphasis on business development.
You will be responsible for current major accounts and inherit a sales pipeline of more than $11 million. You will have both an account management and business development function and should feel comfortable playing a brand ambassador role and innovation conventions.
The business takes a consultative and intelligent approach to all of its work, and is looking for the same ethos in this person. Making new contacts, and unearthing new clients through traditional sales techniques is at the core of the role. Equally this organization encourage the use of SEO and marketing strategies, and are more than willing to invest in tradeshows and events to drive increased sales.
First and foremost you should have a high degree of integrity and professionalism. The GM for Product and Sales will ensure you have the tools, support and autonomy to be successful in your role. Already having seen some great financial success you will be upselling, cross selling, and account managing a number of existing key clients, so your ability to maintain existing relationships and maximize on accounts must work in tandem with your new business hunting and marketing activities.
This is a solution based sell, your key decision makers are small business owners, CEOs of SMEs and Heads of Product; you are looking to unearth opportunities to run feasibility studies, create proof of concepts, develop product, and to win major opportunities which means delivering an end-end process.
Your business development skill set is also paramount; you should have a high degree of commercial acumen and enjoy 'opening doors' with brand new clients, whilst also enjoying the account management aspect. Working for a business with exceptional capability you should feel confident pitching the companies engineering prowess and feel at selling to technical and non-technical decision makers.
As a Senior BDM there is an expectation that you will be able to immediately add value to the business. It is acknowledged that it takes time to generate leads and convert sales in the first 6 months of any BDM role with a longer sales cycle. So if not solely through revenue, you should be able to contribute some industry knowledge and/or contacts- i.e. have worked in or around the IOT, embedded devices. Wearables, medical devices, and/or have sold complex solution, come product build services to a broad market.
You must have:
- A proven track-record of sales success and new business acquisition.
- The ability to solution sell, to unearth need and ask smart questions.
- An understanding of technology -software, hardware, embedded technologies.
- An understanding of product development, and how to sell innovative services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ambition, drive and a high degree of commercial acumen.
- A high degree of professionalism, integrity and initiative.
