The Company

Over the last few years this organisation has played a critical role in helping their customers successfully grow their businesses. Their vision is to grow and have plans to undertake leading M&A analysis and execute transactions to diversify their product offering. Consequently they are seeking to appoint a talented Financial Planning Analyst to co-coordinate financial due diligence and provide M&A transaction support as well as strategic planning expertise.

The Role

As the Financial Planning Analyst, you will drive the delivery complex transactions including acquisitions, takeovers, mergers, divestments, capital raisings and business optimisation. You will be the 2IC and key leader in the Corporate Finance team work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Corporate Finance to liaise with and build relationships with financial advisors/investment banks, legal advisors, corporate lenders, investors and other stakeholders on an agreed scope of work. This includes:

  • Quickly developing an understanding of the target business and its drivers
  • Interpretation and analysis of information memoranda, business plans, publicly available information on the target business
  • Review and analysis of historical trading, quality of earnings, cash flow, working capital, net debt, capital expenditure, forecasts and underlying assumptions
  • Review of the adequacy of financing structure including review of agreements and consideration of limits, terms and covenants
  • Evaluation of potential synergies and post-merger integration considerations
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations for senior management and boards
  • Reporting of potential key issues for our clients including identification of risk or price factors impacting investment decisions
  • Review of sale and purchase agreements and financial model to reflect findings of the due diligence process
  • Create incremental value through drafting appropriate clauses in transaction documents
  • End-to-end project manage the due diligence process
  • Mentor but not directly manage a team of high-performing analysts
  • Participate in business development and relationship building programs with key clients and stakeholders

Your Profile

As the Financial Planning Analyst you will be a highly motivated and talented performer, looking to move out of a professional services for or consultancy into a commercial organisation or have experience working within the corporate finance or planning and analysis team of a commercial organisation already. Your skills and experience should include:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance and/or Accounting or analytical discipline such as Economics, Mathematics or statistics
  • Post graduate qualification (or in process of obtaining) e.g. CA, CFA, Masters in Applied Finance or MBA
  • Experience in performing financial due diligence assignments in a transaction environment or similar complex financial assignments; or business combination experience gained through the audit of acquisitive businesses
  • It is required that the candidate's applicable experience includes: financial due diligence or M&A analysis and report writing, identification of issues and factors impacting valuations, financial statement interpretation and analysis, strong consulting or advisory experience and strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong familiarity with the broader deal-oriented process and environment
  • Structured thinker with analytical and financial skills to work on complex financial transactions
