Robert Half is exclusively working with this industry-leading building materials manufacturer head-quartered in Melbourne and with operations and a strong market presence in Sydney and Brisbane. Due to a restructure in the business a newly created role is available for a Commercial Manager to join the NSW business which is based in Western Sydney to partner with operations and drive profitability and growth in what is an exciting time of this business's evolution. Having been in operation for over 30 years and employing over 150 staff, this organisation has exciting growth plans and with 70% ownership by private equity it's an exciting time to be joining the business in a role that can really impact the growth and success of the NSW operations.
Reporting into the State General Manager and with a dotted line into the Group Commercial Manager (who is based inter-state), the Commercial Manager enjoys a great relationship with multiple stakeholders both in the NSW business and the broader business across the Eastern Seaboard.
This key role for the NSW business will be tasked with making sure the business understands and has controls in place around all expenditures (raw material, inventory control, procurement etc). You will be conducting variance analysis and working with the business to educate around costs, inventory control, pricing, profitability and expenditure to ensure they are running to factory standards and understanding their monthly results.
The Commercial Manager will also be responsible for KPI management reporting and analysis, providing strategic analytical and information support to the business with a key focus around profitability and growth, as well as ad-hoc projects across the business.
The successful Commercial Manager will be CA/CPA qualified and will have experience in a finance business partnering role within the manufacturing industry. You enjoy 'being out in the business', working with stakeholders across sales, factory, and management and involving your colleagues in business discussions and decision making. You have significant prior experience working on standard costs, inventory and profitability and be aspirational about business growth as this is a key role in a growing company where you can have a real impact on the state business.
As this business is 70% owned by private equity, there is the potential for the successful Commercial Manager to be involved in a transaction down the track in the form of a trade sale or listing, and longer-term opportunities to develop your career within the business. The successful individual will be driven, enthusiastic and proactive.
