Our client is a financial services broker delivering simple, online Forex trading services. At present, they have a need for a Compliance Manager with a background in global financial services to create structures, procedures and policies.
Reporting to the General Counsel you will need to fast become the knowledge-base for directors and organisational executives to provide decision support to operational management across a range of the company's online projects. The ideal profile of this role is someone who understands the fundamental nature to a financial institution's needs; who's exited into industry for a time and is potentially looking to return. This role will perform a variety of responsibilities across the compliance, risk and governance functions. Your duties may include but not limited to processing financial transactions, test strategies, test online products; really be the hands-on analyst to be able to accurately report into senior stakeholders to and thus be a part of potential process improvements.
You will be responsible for:
- Enhancing the company's existing regulatory compliance framework
- Drafting, implementing, monitoring and reviewing compliance policies and procedures and maintaining associated compliance registers
- Managing and coordinating compliance education and training sessions and ensuring staff meet ongoing compliance CPD requirements
- Helping identify financial, strategic and operational risks and work closely with stakeholders across the global business to manage and respond to those risks effectively
- Assist in liaising with and handling enquiries from regulatory authorities (ASIC, AUSTRAC, FOS)
- Perform the role of AML/CTF Compliance Officer, including oversight of CDD and suspicious transaction monitoring and reporting
You arrive to the role with more than seven years in a financial services compliance role (CPA/CA/CIA/CSFA qualified preferred) and have a strong understanding of Australian financial services regulations. You have sound understanding of compliance framework management, relevant knowledge and experience in AML/financial crime legislation and practice, and a sound knowledge of financial markets, risk and international compliance experience.
You are passionate about forming sound business partnerships within a start-up environment. You are a fast-learner, extremely detail orientated and take comfort in managing a small teams. You have a global-mindset, however, you understand that the day-to-day of an online financial institution requires a certain level of internal influence and hands-on responses. You are not adverse to writing policies and procedures for an executive audience and your personality will have a certain amount of get-up-and-go. You'll have a non-stop curiosity to develop your skills and experience and collaborate well with others to develop the trust and confidence when faced with complex problems.
This role is well suited to those candidates who have worked, or who are working in and around financial markets to understand the complexities of government compliance and, in time, see this role as stepping stone to a senior institutional role.
