Situated 23 kilometres from Melbourne CBD, Melbourne Airport (also known as Tullamarine Airport) is Melbourne’s primary airport and the only international one out of the city’s four airports. It is also the second busiest airport in Australia after Sydney airport.
With Melbourne’s CBD just a 26 minute drive away, it’s hard to believe this family-friendly suburb surrounded by acres of woodland and wildlife and a grand estate that is over 150 years old can be so close to the heart of the city itself.
The airport has its own postcode, emphasising the growing infrastructure of this small but flourishing area in Victoria.
This planned rail link is in conjunction with plans to expand the number of airport terminals and overall capacity itself, which will inevitably increase the job opportunities and therefore economic prospects of the area.
This little area has a network of schools and a proposed Airport Rail Link, running from the CBD via Sunshine station and the Albion-Jacana railway line.
Surprisingly too, the beautiful Overnewton Castle and Woodlands Historic Park are both just a short distance away from the airport.
Aside from the airport itself, there are a number of freight and logistics centres in the area, creating various admin roles that need to be supported.
