In this talk, Roselinde shares her insights on the characteristics common among truly thriving leaders, including their preparation practices as well as what future leaders need to do in order to rise to the top of the corporate ladder.
2. Derek Sivers: How to start a movement
Derek pulls out hilarious footage to showcase the skills needed to step up and become a leader. One of his key messages is that an individual needs to first follow before they can lead. Moreover, Derek says leadership is “over-glorified” – it’s often the first follower who transforms a “lone nut” into a leader.
3. Angela Lee Duckworth: The key to success? Grit
Psychologist Angela Lee Duckworth talks about the leadership skills of grit and sheer perseverance and how many successful leaders display these traits over other, more glorified skills like high intelligence or good communication. Entrepreneur and blogger Seth Godin is a digital-marketing specialist who uses this talk to ponder the idea that the internet has put mass marketing to bed and revived a human social organisation from the past: tribes. He says tribes provide people with the power to lead and make big changes. And he tells you how.
